Dec 16, 2005 :: Bad Paste :: Ft. Lauderdale, FL |
 |
|
Event: Bad Paste - a rock poster art show, curated by Todd Nolan and Holden at Studio 954 (Tattoo Shop/ Art Gallery) Artists: Michael Buchmiller of Hand Carved Graphics, Jason Cooper of Black Heart Studios, Firehouse Kustom Rockart, Alan Hynes and Christian Hail, Chuck Loose of Snap-E-Chuck / Iron Forge, Thomas Scott of Eye Noise, Kristen Thiele of Postergirl Press, Lil Tuffy, Scotty Upton of Low Fidelity, Andrew Vastagh of Boss Construction, and Daniel Williams. Description: Whether they are framed, pasted, stapled, taped, matted, rolled, traded or sold, printed by man or machine, overlooked and stepped on, ripped down or scraped off, poster art has become a part of nearly everyone's life in some way or another, from a mere, simple annoyance to a highly sought after piece of art. In the past 10 years, there have been more rock posters produced than in the entire history of rock'n'roll, and in this world of MP3's and lack of LP's, people truly need that strong connection between art and music more than ever. Inspired by websites, like Gigposters.com, which features a massive collection of 50,000 posters from all around the world by over 4,500 designers and by books such as The Art of Modern Rock that has compiled art by more than 350 studios and artists, Todd Nolan decided to bring a little love of rock posters to South Florida by trying his hand at curating a show of his own. Named after a bucket of rotten wheat-paste found in his closet, "BAD PASTE," will showcase the talents of 14 very different eclectic artists from all across this great nation of ours, from cities such as San Francisco, Ft. Lauderdale, Nashville, Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando and San Diego. Included in the mix, will be several local graphic designers hanging next to some of the finest screen printers around, like the guys at Firehouse Kustom Rockart. All posters are available in very limited editions for sale, so break out your Christmas lists, kids.......and get shopping. Studio 954 is a brand spanking new tattoo parlor that thanks to local artist, Holden recently opened its doors in the downtown Ft. Lauderdale area and it features an attached art gallery, where BAD PASTE will be making its home. In addition to the poster art on display, there will be a graffiti installation created by a group of local spray paint terrorists, MSG Crew. |
